Oral microbiome: a doubtful predictor but potential target of cardiovascular diseases

چکیده
Abstract Our oral cavity houses various types of microbes including bacteria, protozoa, fungi and viruses, harboring over 700 bacterial species. Oral dysbiosis refers to the imbalance between symbionts pathobionts in cavity, posing potential threats host cardiovascular health. Importantly, promotes pathophysiology through different mechanisms. Although overgrowth certain pathogenic bacteria have been indicated some cardiometabolic diseases, it is still premature consider microbiome as a suitable predictor for non-invasive diagnostic purpose. However, targeting might provide preventive therapeutic insights on diseases. Further extensive efforts are needed deepen our understanding oral-cardiovascular connection context perspectives.

PPARδ Activity in Cardiovascular Diseases: A Potential Pharmacological Target
Activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), and particularly of PPARα and PPARγ, using selective agonists, is currently used in the treatment of metabolic diseases such as hypertriglyceridemia and type 2 diabetes mellitus. PPARα and PPARγ anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative and antiangiogenic properties in cardiovascular cells were extensively clarified in a variety of i...
متن کاملApoptosis as a Potential Target in Therapeutic and Vaccine Interventions against Parasitic Diseases
Apoptosis is a physiological cell death that occurs under normal conditions in major biological processes, including the removal of old, damaged, extra, or harmful cells. It plays an important role in natural evolution, tissue homeostasis, removal of cells damaged or infected by viruses, and removal of immune cells activated against self-antigens. The purpose of this review was to examine the r...

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HDL-C AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES: Beyond the role of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) in the development of atherosclerosis, growing evidence suggest that high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) is a powerful predictor of cardiovascular disease. Indeed, epidemiological, mechanistic and intervention studies suggest that low HDL-c is a major cardiovascular ri...
متن کاملThe Role of PKR as a Potential Target for Treating Cardiovascular Diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally with limited treatment options. Despite improved pharmacological therapy, scientific understandings on the root mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases are still not fully understood. It is well known that inflammation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and controlling this inflammatory pathway may inhibi...
متن کاملRegulation of DDAH1 as a Potential Therapeutic Target for Treating Cardiovascular Diseases
Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) is an endogenous nitric oxide synthase inhibitor that blocks nitric oxide production, while congestive heart failure is associated with increased plasma and tissue ADMA content. Increased plasma ADMA is a strong and independent predictor of all-cause mortality in the community and the strongest predictor of mortality in patients after myocardial infarction. Re...
